Mattie began the southeastern chapter of his music career in Warner Robins, GA in 2005. Referring to himself as the poor man’s John Mayer, or what it would sound like if Michelle Branch was a dude, Mattie combines radio-friendly pop sensibilities with failed relationships to create tunes that are real and easy for many to relate to. Mattie, 26, is the group's singer/songwriter/guitarist/egomaniac and teams with Matt Dechant, 23, drummer/cowbellist/calming influence, to keep the music moving.

The duo met while on tour with Air Force musical group Tops in Blue. With a 9 piece band and a dozen vocalists, the group performed a wide variety of styles from swing to hip-hop to country. After performing more than 140 shows in more than 30 countries and more than 30 states, the two realized after tour they would be located near each other and decided to start a band. Both agree that the experience of touring non-stop for a year with such a large ensemble was a musically valuable experience, and both are ready to take that wealth of experience and apply it to Mattie’s original songs.

Mattie is currently taking advantage of all opportunities to share his music with anyone who will listen, both with Matt and as a solo act. They are also preparing to go into the studio to work on their first full album. Upon completion of the album, the two plan to start marketing to college radio in an effort to expand their potential audience.
